Veneers Explained

A Veneer is a thin layer of tooth coloured material which is made to fit precisely over the visible surface of a front tooth to make it look better.

Benefits

Ideal for discoloured or unsightly teeth to improve the appearance.
Closing a gap between front teeth, repairing chips/cracks.
Protect teeth after damage (acid in food and drink causes teeth to wear).

Vaneers make the teeth look natural and healthy. Because they are very thin and are held in place using a special strong bond very little or no preparation of the teeth is needed, it is virtually a painless procedure requiring no anaesthetic.
Fitting of a veneer usually requires two visits. The first to prepare the tooth, match the shade and the second to fit it.
A natural tooth coloured filling material can be used for minor repairs to front teeth. This is excellent where the tooth supports a filling, but may not work well for broken tooth corners.
Crowns can be used for teeth which need to be strengthened - either because they have been broken, have been weakened by a very large filling, or have had root canal treatment.
